In May 2005 the WWA had an opportunity to purchase one of the last granite Memorial Bench’s for the Cold War Memorial at the Patriot Point Park in Charleston, SC. This was our chance to leave behind some heritage for future generations. It was a time-constrained evolution and we were unable to solicit funds prior to the purchase. The cost of the Bench was $1300. The WWA is now soliciting funds to restock our treasury. Several of our shipmates have already donated and I will keep a running tally of future donations till we have reached the $1300 mark.
