Our History

In 1970, the Utah Correctional Association was founded for the following purposes:

  • To advance and promote the general acceptance of correctional work as a professional endeavor and strengthen the professional status of corrections;
  • To unite members of the Association in the acceptance of a standard of conduct and code of ethics;
  • To help secure effective legislation and citizen support for the prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency in the state of Utah, including adequate financial support for correctional programs;
  • To collect, interpret, study, and disseminate to improve public understanding of the correctional field, both adult and juvenile;
  • To represent the interests of the members before various public and private organizations; and
  • To seek to realize the purposes above outlined by any other lawful means not heretofore stated

Vission
The Utah Correctional Association works to advance and promote correctional work and unite members by networking with professionals in the areas of corrections.
Mission
The mission of the Utah Correctional Association is to promote: expertise, unity, and shared ethical standards among corrections professionals, evidence-based enhancements of correctional programs and practices, improved public understanding of the corrections profession, and effective public policy and citizen support for the prevention, control and treatment of crime and delinquency.
