Harrison Police officer Richard Light, left, and his K-9 dog, Yourie, were honored by the New York Shields in Yonkers. Light was shot while searching for a triple-homicide suspect in Sleepy Hollow, and Yourie alerted other officers to where the suspect was hiding.

Also in May, the Shields escorts families of those officers who have been killed in the line of duty to the National Police Memorial Week event and official Memorial Service held in our nations capitol, honoring law enforcement officers from across the country.

Kim Dahncke holds the Distinguished Service Cross that her fiance, Azem Albra, received at the New York Shields Inc. dinner yesterday honoring police officers. Albra, a Bedford officer, was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while assisting a motorist.
