Promotions:
 
68 students, colored belts,  were promoted at our Kick Start Karate Program located at the Honolulu Police Academy on December 11, 2014.  Students being promoted ranged in ages from 6 to 18.
 
12 students, colored belts will be promoted on December 17, 2014 at our Aina Haina Gym.
 
Our Black Belt promotions will happen on February 18, 2015 at Aina Haina and February 17, 2015 at the Honolulu Police Academy.

Hawaii Kodansha Kai
 
Was founded in April of 1984 by seven high-level Sensei’s of traditional Japanese or Okinawa style karate in Hawaii. T These seven Sensei’s were the original Founders of the Kodansha Kai whose purpose was to promote and preserve traditional karate in Hawaii.  The original seven Sensei’s were Tomu Arakawa, Bobby Lowe, James Miyaji, Joseph Bunch, Pat Nakata, Kenneth Funakoshi and Masakazu Teruya.
 
Is an organization that Sensei Donohue is now the President of.  Our organization is made up of  seven Senior Traditional Japanese or Okinawa style Sensei’s that promotes and preserves the traditional art of karate.  The Kodansha Kai also provides Black Belt Dan certifications for students of the traditional styles of karate.  The senior Sensei’s that lead the organization are Sensei James Miyaji, of Ken Shu Kan and one of the Founders of the Koadansha Kai; Sensei Lee Donohue, representing Shorin Ryu;  Sensei Kenneth Funakoshi of Funakoshi Shotokan and represented by Sensei G. Hisae Ishii-Chang; Sensei Francis Fong representing Shotokan Karate International Federation; Sensei Ralph Sakauye of Ken Shu Kan,  Sensei Joey Bunch representing  Hawaii Okinawa Kenpo Karate; Sensei Tony Troche Zen Budokai International; Sensei Richard Young representing Karate Hawaii: and Masakazu Teruya of Seibukan of Hawaii.
