About Us
The city of Tucson was honored to have a nuclear submarine named after it . The USS TUCSON (SSN 770) was commissioned on Sept 5, 1995 and is homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii . Its crew and their families make countless sacrifices protecting the American way of life and the freedoms we so deeply cherish.
A non-profit committee of concerned citizens was created to establish and maintain a long-term relationship between the USS TUCSON and our city . The Tucson Council of The United States Navy League sponsors this committee.
In order to provide greater opportunity for all citizens and organizations to support the USS TUCSON, a 770 CLUB has been formed. "770" is the hull number of this submarine and provides a fitting name for the Club. Membership in the 770 Club is open to all individuals and organizations. CLUB MEMBERS ARE V.I .P.'S and are invited to participate in the events associated with the submarine. The activities usually include:
An annual trip to Hawaii or San Diego of several days duration to visit the submarine, its crew and other military activities . Typically 20-25 members from the club will be able to go out to sea during each visit.
Hosting the Commanding Officer and crewmembers during their annual trip to Tucson. A wide range of activities will be planned for these visits.
Interacting with the Commanding Officer and crew in building friendships and relationships .
