Phony Domain Renewals
I got a call from one of our clients today. He received a FAX that stated that it was time to renew his domain name. They wanted $600 plus for a year. I assume that they were going to give him hosting too.
Be aware of this. It can come in the form of a FAX, email or even in a letter. If he had signed that letter and sent it in, his domain name would have been removed from our control and he would have been obligated for the money. Since the website would not go too, since it is on my server, they would want to build him a new website too.
There are companies out there that don’t care about finding their own clients and would rather steal from someone else AND THEN charge them big bucks.
If you have any doubt at all contact me first. Remember, domain names through us run about $9 a year and hosting is just $55 a year at this time. No increase for 2007. If you want a bigger and fancier website contact us first. Just because we work cheap does not mean that we don’t care or can’t do the job. Don’t get sucked in by someone offering you the world and then charge you big bucks.
