He is a police officer with the Honolulu Police Department.

We are committed to providing quality martial arts instruction to each and every student. Our style is CHOSIN CHIBANA Shorin-ryu (Kobayashi style) and We are an AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) member Actively involved in local, National and International competition. Were not just a tournament type school, You will learn self defense as well as other techniques to improve your self confidence and your overall physical fitness. We place a strong emphasis on discipline and respect and for children they learn to focus better in the dojo, home and school. most importantly they learn to respect themselves and others.

The first question we ask is what are you looking for in a martial arts school? There are four basic systems in the martial arts. The first is a self defense/professional use of force system and is not considered an art. The focus of this system is limited and intended to resolve a violent situation with the application of force. An example of this system is the training used to teach law enforcement officers street survival.

The second and most popular is the traditional/discipline system where values and character building is taught. In this system, values such as respect, integrity and loyalty are stressed with the goal in having each student become a better person, physically, mentally and spiritually.

The third system is the spiritual/health system and is designed to help develop inner peace and harmony. This system is more commonly known as the soft style, such as Tai Chi Chuan and enjoyed by many, young and old alike.

The fourth system is the sport/tournament focus. Training for tournaments and sport karate is demanding and challenging. In our society today, We do not teach the martial arts with the intention of hurting or to fight intentionally with another person. So with all of the training that is required, karate professionals have been able to devise rules that allow for safe and friendly competition while applying skills learned in the dojo.

Hawaii Karate Federation is a family type school where the traditional/discipline system serves as our base. We are not a commercial type of school and requirements for promotion to advance through the ranks is based on ability, attitude and dedication.
