Hawaii Reunion April 16 to 18, 2009

Shipmates,

Most of you may think this is a bit far in advance but believe me you need to start making reservations NOW.  I know that Stan has told everyone over and over to save your money for this trip and he is right on target.

I can tell you that the military hotel is not cheap anymore. They quoted be prices for 2008 at $122 without parking and said add about 10% for 2009.

Here is information about the Hale Koa for military retired:

Hale Koa hotel web site is at: http://www.halekoa.com/
and a phone number is:
Toll Free Room Reservations:
1-800-367-6027 (CONUS)

Daily except Sunday and federal holidays.

They don't take reservations earlier than 365 days before the start date (and I think cancellations must be at least 30 days before start without financial penalty - but check the web site.

Here is information about the Doubletree Alana for non military retired.

The  Doubletree Alana, part of the Hilton chain.

Tell them it is for the USS WAHOO and the code is UWR

Let Tom Young know when you have your reservations.

Remember there is a time limit on how long the hotels will not hold the blocks open.

So get your reservation in.

Here is a TIP for retired military that are going to rent a car.

You can go to the main gate security at Hickam AFB and get a temp base pass for the time of the car rental. This will get you on any base including the Subase. You can arrange for paid for parking at the Hale Koa.

Tom is working on a place to hold the welcome aboard party and the dinner. As prices are high it looks like the Hale Koa may be the best bet. None military can come and go from the Hale Koa with no problem.

Tom also had a chance to meet with ComSubPac and asked him if he would be our guest speaker and he said yes if he is still there. He also made contact with their Staff Executive Officer and can use him for any tours that we want to arrange.

Now what Tom wants to know is there anything special that you want to do in Hawaii. Please let him know.
